Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking a Vocational Instructor for the Education Team at the Skills Academy of Kibble Education and Care Centre. You will work with young people who have experienced trauma, delivering hands-on vocational learning across horticulture, construction, mechanics or sustainability, and adapt lessons to individual needs with progress recorded.

The role is a 37-hour week with Safe Crisis Management training due within four weeks of starting, and a full driving

Qualifications

• Relevant qualifications in your discipline, such as horticulture, construction or mechanics.
• Experience delivering vocational training or practical skills.
• Experience in youth training and working with young people.

Job description

This Vocational Instructor post sits in the Education Team at the Skills Academy of Kibble Education and Care Centre, working with young people who have experienced trauma. Hands-on teaching in horticulture, construction, mechanics or sustainability, with lessons adapted to individual needs and progress recorded. It is a 37-hour week, with Safe Crisis Management training to complete within four weeks of starting. Experience of youth training and a full driving licence are essential, and GTCS registration is not.

• Prepare and deliver qualification work and resource materials, and assess, record and report on progress
• Support young people to build confidence, independence and transferable skills for future pathways
• Support the development of positive work behaviours, employability skills and resilience
• Maintain and promote high standards of health and safety, and safeguard young people and staff
• Contribute to wider Skills Academy projects and initiatives, including enterprise and community activities
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide a consistent, supportive learning environment
• Carry out any other reasonable duties required by the Skills Academy management team
