Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking caring, reliable Children's Support Workers to join a supported living service for 16-18 year olds. You will provide guidance, encouragement and practical support to help young people develop life skills and move towards independent living.

This role operates on a three-week rolling rota with long-day sleep-in shifts. Start times vary within the shift pattern, with some night support paid.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months' experience working with children or young people.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and professional boundaries.
  • Confidence supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team.
  • Genuine commitment to helping young people become happy, confident and independent adults.

Responsibilities

  • Support young people to develop important life skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting and shopping.
  • Help them build the confidence to manage their own home and daily responsibilities.
  • Accompany them to appointments, activities and community opportunities.
  • Assist with job searches, applications, interview preparation and CV writing.
  • Provide encouragement during difficult periods and celebrate successes.
  • Build trusted, professional relationships that provide consistency and stability.
  • Work as part of a dedicated team to create a safe, positive and supportive environment.
