Job summary

Barnsley CVS Wakefield is seeking a Youth Work Support post to help deliver youth work sessions across South and West Yorkshire, including street-based, educational, and community settings. You will work with Lead Youth Workers to plan, deliver, and evaluate sessions, while adhering to safeguarding, health and safety, and organisational policies.

Flexible hours include evenings and some weekends. Desirable candidates will have front-line youth work experience and will undertake a JNC-recognised

Qualifications

• Desirably have front-line youth work delivery experience.
• Undertake a JNC recognised youth work qualification at Level 3 (or above) in parallel with the role.

Responsibilities

• To work with young people in informal and formal settings through a range of programmes throughout South and West Yorkshire.
• To support the delivery of youth work sessions in a variety of settings, including detached, educational, and community-based work.
• To contribute ideas and practical support to the planning of youth work activities, working under the direction of a Youth Worker or Lead Youth Worker.
• To actively participate in the delivery of sessions, helping to create engaging, safe, and supportive environments for young people.
• To contribute to the evaluation of sessions through verbal feedback, written notes, or monitoring tools, as directed.
• To build appropriate relationships with young people, acting as a positive role model and promoting TYA values.
• To attend team meetings, supervisions, and training, and contribute to continuous learning and improvement.
• To support the promotion of youth participation within sessions, encouraging young people to express their views and make decisions.
• To follow all safeguarding, health & safety, and organisational policies and procedures at all times.
• To work collaboratively as part of a team and develop effective working relationships with colleagues and partner agencies.
• To undertake a JNC-recognised youth work qualification at Level 3 (or above) alongside this role, with appropriate support.
• To work flexible hours, including evenings and some weekends, as agreed.
