Job summary

Moray Council is seeking a Youth Worker to deliver learning opportunities and wider achievement for young people and vulnerable young adults in Moray. You will work from the Aye Bus and in schools to promote accreditation and participation, helping learners gain skills, confidence and active citizenship.

The role requires PVG scheme eligibility and travel between Moray work locations by car/van. Strong ICT and communication skills are essential in a flexible, community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with young people in building-based and detached settings.
• Experience of delivering accredited opportunities.
• Good ICT knowledge and skills.
• Ability to develop and deliver programmes of activity.
• Ability to develop community-based projects.
• Ability to signpost young people to agencies.
• Group work experience.
• Ability to create opportunities based on learning outcomes.
• Experience in use of social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc
• Enjoyment of working with challenging young people.
• You will be expected to travel efficiently and effectively between various work locations within Moray to meet the operational requirements of the Service. Due to the rural nature of Moray, this is normally undertaken by use of a car/van.

Responsibilities

• Identify and engage with young people, prioritising those most at risk of social exclusion, to help them participate in community learning and development.
• Assist in delivering informal learning opportunities to encourage involvement and local decision-making.
• Assist youth workers to deliver the Scottish Governments Community Learning & Development agenda within a Community Planning context.
• Assist with consultations/needs assessments to ensure the service is responsive.
• Plan, record, review and evaluate all work with young people in line with Moray Council QA framework.
• Participate in staff meetings and training as directed by line-management.
• Ensure adherence to Moray Council policies and procedures.
