Job summary

Perth & Kinross Council is seeking a Community Learning Assistant on a fixed-term basis until 31 July 2027. Based at Scott Street, Perth, you will support children aged 10-12 across primary and secondary settings, using youth work approaches to boost attendance and engagement.

You will collaborate with education colleagues, establish routines, and help remove barriers to learning, while building trusting relationships and contributing to Primary Champions Boards.

Qualifications

• Experience working directly with children and young people, particularly those who may be disengaged or facing complex challenges.
• Strong understanding of barriers to access to education and services.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proactive and empathetic approach to building trust and positive relationships.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and the principles of the Promise.
• Commitment to empowering young people and helping them reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Work with Children aged 10-12 years old across Primary and secondary settings.
• Assist in establishing routines and reducing barriers to attendance and engagement.
• Contribute to individual plans for young people based on Youth Work models.
• Set up and collaborate with education colleagues to implement Primary Champions Boards.
• Travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross as required.
