Job summary

Specialist SEND Group in Rotherham is seeking a dedicated Youth Mentor to join our team in an Alternative Provision setting. You will support learners with additional needs, helping them to develop academically and personally while providing guidance and a safe, nurturing environment.

We expect you to build positive relationships, support daily routines, and collaborate with teaching staff to tailor support for individual learners.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people, particularly those with additional needs.
  • Understanding of social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to supporting learners.
  • Safeguarding training or willingness to complete upon appointment.
  • Experience in an educational or care setting is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support learners with daily tasks and routines

  • Assist learners with their social, emotional, and mental wellbeing
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with learners to encourage engagement and progress

  • Promote inclusion and equality, ensuring all learners feel safe and valued

Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday – 9.30 – 15.30

Salary: £14.00 – £15.00

About the Role

We are seeking a caring, dedicated, and motivated Youth Mentor to join our team in an Alternative Provision (AP) setting. This role involves supporting learners with additional needs, helping them to develop both academically and personally. The successful candidate will provide guidance, encouragement, and practical support to learners, helping them achieve their potential while ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
