Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Youth Mentor in South Staffordshire to support students facing challenges and help them unlock their potential. This part-time role offers meaningful impact, with mentoring sessions during school hours and a flexible schedule that fits around the school day.

You will work one-to-one or in groups, focusing on confidence, resilience and personal development, while ensuring safeguarding and DBS requirements are met.

Qualifications

  • Experience in mentoring, youth work, or pastoral role within education or social care.
  • Passion for working with young people facing emotional or social challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills to connect with and motivate students.
  • Empathy, patience and a solutions-first approach to supporting personal growth.
  • Creative and energetic in engaging students in learning and development.
  • Interest or background in mental health, social work, or youth services is a plus.
  • Tuition experience for at least 1 year.

About the Role:

Are you someone who thrives on supporting young people through challenges and helping them discover their true potential? As a Youth Mentor in South Staffordshire, you'll play a key role in guiding and inspiring students who need additional support in navigating both their academic and personal development. Whether its through one to one mentoring, leading group activities, or supporting students in achieving their goals, you will help foster confidence, resilience, and self esteem.

This is a part-time role (up to 20 hours per week), paid at up to £30 per hour. Sessions take place during school hours, between 9am and 3pm, giving you flexibility while still fitting around the school day.

What Were Looking For:
  • Experience in a mentoring, youth work, or pastoral role, ideally within an education or social care setting
  • Passion for working with young people facing emotional or social challenges
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to connect with and motivate young people
  • Empathy, patience, and a solutions first approach to supporting students personal growth
  • A creative, energetic approach to engaging students and helping them find joy in learning and personal development
  • An interest or background in mental health, social work, or youth services would be an advantage
  • Tuition experience for at least 1 year
To Be Eligible You Must:
  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Have an Enhanced DBS certificate (child barred list) or be willing to apply for a new one
  • Provide two professional references from child related roles
  • Be passionate about youth empowerment and creating a safe, inclusive environment for young people
