Job description

Youth Justice Senior Practitioner

Maternity Cover - up to 12 months

Join a committed Youth Justice Service focused on preventing offending and reoffending among children and young people. We work to ensure custody is always the last resort and that every young person receives the right support to address the causes of offending behaviour.

About the Role
  • Lead on court work and group work initiatives.
  • Manage a small, complex post-court caseload.
  • Provide management oversight of complex cases ensuring timely, effective interventions.
  • Ensure children's voices are consistently heard and influence practice.
  • Build strong relationships with key partners and stakeholders.
  • Support the delivery of Youth Justice Strategic Priorities, including:
  • Child First approaches.
  • Expanding Restorative Justice.
  • Improving health outcomes for children.
  • Addressing disproportionality.
  • Supporting children in care.
  • Reducing Serious Youth Violence.
  • Increasing prevention and diversion activities.

About You
  • Qualified in Social Work, Probation, Youth Work, or a related field, with relevant registration.
  • Experience in Youth Justice and managing complex cases.
  • Strong understanding of youth justice, safeguarding, and children's legislation.
  • Confident, resilient, and passionate about improving outcomes for young people.
  • Committed to systemic, trauma-informed, and restorative approaches.
