Job summary

Essex County Council's Youth Justice Team is recruiting a Practitioner to reduce offending by young people, working with families, schools and key agencies. You will represent the Youth Justice Service at multi-agency forums to secure better outcomes and will bring experience with complex needs in a criminal justice setting.

The role requires strong communication skills, IT literacy, and a commitment to ongoing professional development and partnership with families and carers.

Qualifications

  • Qualified and registered Social Worker with Social Work England.
  • Experience with children/young people or young adults in a criminal justice setting.
  • Excellent communication and IT literacy with high-quality recording on YJS case management system.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and manage competing demands with a commitment to CPD.
  • Ability to challenge young people and families in partnership with others involved.
  • Adept at working as part of a multi-disciplinary team across organisational boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Reduce offending by young people, working closely with family, schools and key agencies.
  • Represent the Youth Justice Service at relevant multi-agency forums to secure better outcomes.
  • Work with young people with complex needs and families, understanding relevant legislation.
