Job summary

Portsmouth Youth Justice Service sits within the Children, Families and Education Directorate at Portsmouth City Council. The Business Support Officer will provide an efficient, responsive administrative service and act as a key first point of contact, handling telephone enquiries related to court matters and requests for Appropriate Adults for young people in police custody.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service with a focus on delivering a high standard of service.
• Confident and considerate communicator dealing with a wide range of people.
• Ability to take accurate minutes and handle confidential information.
• Good literacy, numeracy and understanding of data protection and confidentiality.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and database systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide an efficient administrative service to Portsmouth Youth Justice Service.
• Answer and filter telephone calls, including court matters and requests for Appropriate Adults.
• Enter information onto the Core+ case management system and maintain accurate records.
• Prepare court files and correspondence, take detailed minutes at panel meetings.
• General admin: post, meetings, scanning, filing and ordering stationery.
• Support management with reports, statistics and inspections readiness.
