Job summary

Portsmouth Youth Justice Service is seeking a compassionate, highly organised administrator to support a busy team. The role focuses on handling enquiries, maintaining records, and assisting with court documentation and inspections.

Based in the Civic Offices, the post is 2.5 days per week. You will work with families, professionals and the public, delivering a calm and professional service while keeping sensitive information secure and accurate.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and business support to the Youth Justice Service.
  • Manage enquiries and referrals from partner agencies.
  • Maintain accurate records on our case management system.
  • Prepare court documentation and support performance reporting.
  • Take meeting minutes and assist with inspections.
  • Support safeguarding and wellbeing of children and young people.

Your new role

Join our Youth Justice Service (YJS) and play a vital role in keeping the service running smoothly. You'll provide comprehensive administrative and business support, managing enquiries and referrals from partner agencies, maintaining accurate records on our case management system, preparing court documentation, supporting performance reporting, taking meeting minutes, and assisting with inspections. This is a varied and fast-paced role where your organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively with a range of professionals will help ensure children and young people receive the support they need.

Who is the person summary:

We're looking for a compassionate, resilient and highly organised individual with excellent customer service skills to join our team. You'll be the first point of contact for families, professionals and members of the public, providing a calm, professional and supportive service, often in sensitive and emotionally challenging situations. With strong communication skills, attention to detail and confidence using a range of IT systems, you'll be able to manage enquiries effectively, work to deadlines and play a key role in supporting the safeguarding and wellbeing of children and young people. Experience within Children's Services is desirable but not essential.
