Job summary

YMCA Fairthorne Group in Basingstoke is seeking a Youth Engagement Worker to develop engaging programmes for young people aged 18-30 in a housing setting.

You will mentor individuals and groups, build trusted relationships, and work with partners to provide comprehensive support. A trauma-informed approach and safeguarding commitment are essential to help residents move towards independence and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering programmes within youth, adult or community-based settings.
• Experience supporting young people or adults with complex needs.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches.
• Understanding of challenges facing young people today.
• Commitment to safeguarding principles and inclusive practice.

Responsibilities

• Develop, promote and deliver engaging daily activities and programmes for young people.
• Support, mentor, coach and walk alongside young people to achieve personal goals.
• Undertake risk assessments and support planning.
• Build positive, trusted relationships with residents.
• Engage external partners to deliver support and activities.
• Advocate for young people to access services and opportunities.
• Support young people into employment, education, training and volunteering.
• Assist with accommodation applications and inductions.
• Maintain clear records and contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing processes.
• Identify and respond to emerging risks and concerns.
