Job summary

AKG (UK) Employment Ltd is seeking a Mentor to provide participant-centred mentoring for eligible young people, coordinating pre-employment and in-work support, and maintaining accurate case records to meet contractual requirements. The role involves building rapport, managing a caseload and delivering CVs, interview support, and progression planning.

You will work with partner organisations, Jobcentre Plus and local employers to identify opportunities, provide regular contact, and adapt support

Qualifications

• Experience mentoring or providing employment support to young people or participants facing barriers to work.
• Experience in employability, welfare-to-work, youth employment, skills, education, training or similar target-driven environment.
• Ability to build trust, motivate participants, and engage via face-to-face, phone and digital contact.
• Good understanding of action planning, barrier removal, work-readiness support and job matching.
• Ability to manage a caseload, prioritise activity, meet deadlines and achieve targets.
• Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building with participants, employers and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of safeguarding, data protection, equality and diversity, health and safety and consent.
• IT skills with Microsoft Office and case management systems.

Responsibilities

• Build rapport with young people and establish a supportive working relationship.
• Manage a caseload with mentoring from referral through pre-employment to progression planning.
• Complete initial assessments, identify barriers and agree SMART action plans.
• Deliver confidence-building, work-readiness and job-search support.
• Work with Employer Engagement to match participants to funded opportunities and support onboarding.
• Provide in-work support including regular check-ins and adjustment discussions.
• Maintain accurate, timely records and update records within contractual timescales.
• Re-engage participants who fall out of work and restart support.
• Work flexibly across locations and outside standard hours as needed.
• All duties to align with AKG values and policies.
