About

As an active and growing youth and community charity, FACE is looking for Youth Development Workers to join our youth work team, to manage and develop youth work projects.

We have either two full-time (35 hours) or five part-time (12-20 hours) roles for Level 4-6 Qualified Youth Workers with experience in leading and managing youth work, or for experienced or Level 3 qualified Youth Workers looking for progression to management in Youth Work. The roles are varied across geographic areas in South Gloucestershire and Bristol, with different target groups depending on applicants' experience and preferences.

Our Youth Work offer includes open access youth clubs, mobile and detached youth work, accreditation schemes including Duke of Edinburgh's awards, targeted youth work with disabled, neurodivergent, or adopted young people, trips and residentials, schools group work, issue-based work, Youth Voice, Youth Volunteering, and well-being projects.

You would line manage a small team of Assistant Youth Support Workers and be supported and line managed yourself by one of our two Youth Work Managers.

Main Duties And Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Planning: Lead team planning and delivery of a full and balanced informal education curriculum that meets the needs of young people, combining leisure activities with issue-based activities. Ensure the program caters to different learning styles and abilities, supporting young people's potential.
  2. Participation and Engagement: Encourage and enable young people to participate actively in the youth work program, including planning and decision-making.
  3. Relationship Building: Build trusting relationships with young people to discuss their hopes, ambitions, feelings, and concerns, supporting their reflection and life improvement. Respect and listen to young people, referring them to other agencies as needed.
  4. Equality and Safeguarding: Take positive steps to counter discrimination, observe equalities legislation, and operate within Safe from Harm guidelines.
  5. Supervision and Recruitment: Provide line management to support workers and volunteers, participate in recruitment processes.
  6. Team Motivation and Development: Facilitate team activities, participate in training, supervision, and development to enhance skills and the quality of youth work.
  7. Accreditation and Monitoring: Provide opportunities for youth awards, record and monitor outcomes, and report progress using the Outcomes framework.
  8. Administrative Tasks: Complete necessary administrative tasks to ensure smooth session operations and fulfill funder requirements.
  9. Community Relations: Foster relationships with parents, neighbors, agencies, support fundraising, attend community meetings, and advocate for young people's voices in local plans. Build links with local organizations and attend partnership meetings.
  10. Health & Safety and Well-being: Ensure safety of premises and well-being of staff and users.
  11. Professional Development: Maintain personal and professional skills through ongoing training and mandatory activities.
