Job summary

South Tyneside Council is seeking a Youth Activity Worker to provide a range of informal, positive activities for young people in the Youth Service’s Youth Offer. The role includes evenings, weekends and school holidays to meet demand and improve outcomes.

The post involves open access projects, participation activities and outreach work, delivered with flexibility and safeguarding in mind. An enhanced DBS disclosure is required.

Qualifications

• Qualified and experienced in youth work or related field.
• Ability to run informal, engaging activities for diverse groups of young people.
• Strong interpersonal and safeguarding awareness.

Responsibilities

• Open access youth projects and activities.
• Deliver youth participation provision across programmes.
• Provide targeted youth support where needed.
• Carry out detached and outreach youth work.
• Coordinate sport and leisure activities.
• Organise cultural and drama activities.
• Plan residential trips and holiday programmes.
• Promote volunteering and social action programmes.
• Support safeguarding and welfare of participants.
• Collaborate with the Youth Service to meet priorities.
