Job summary

Sportsmith is seeking an Academy Performance Lead to assist the Head of Performance in delivering the annual department plan across the FP and YDP. You will oversee strength and conditioning design, GPS data reporting, and performance testing, coordinating with MDTs and medical staff to support player development and readiness to train.

The role requires collaboration with senior management, periodic development reviews, and ongoing CPD to maintain safeguarding standards within the academy

Responsibilities

• Assist HoP with production, implementation and monitoring of the Performance Department Plan in line with the Academy Performance Plan and EPPP requirements.
• Provide industry leading performance support to select YDP age-groups.
• Implement a clear physical development strategy within FP and YDP aligned with the Performance Department Plan and MDT.
• Oversee design, delivery and tracking of YDP strength and conditioning.
• Manage monitoring and reporting of the YDP readiness to train.
• Collaborate with HoP to set and review Academy Performance Department targets.
• Oversee design, delivery and tracking of YDP GPS data and reporting.
• Facilitate regular dialogue within staff delivering the physical performance strategy to FP and YDP.
• Liaise with the YDP MDT to periodise and schedule player development at macro, meso and microcycle levels.
• Collaborate with the MDT to create player profiles and participate in player review cycles.
• Lead internal and external physical performance testing within the YDP.
• Ensure effective communication between Lead Academy Performance Coach and U18 Performance staff on player transition.
• Assist in performance support with the PDP.
• Ensure FP and YDP performance staff understand and convey the department philosophy, plans and targets as directed by HoP.
• Lead on collecting, tracking and reporting growth and maturation data.
• Build relationships with senior management and academy staff to facilitate consolidated practices.
• Liaise with medical staff to design and deliver late-stage rehab in the YDP.
• Under direction from the HoP contribute to research projects to improve sport science practices.
• Liaise with PDP staff on transition player programming and development.
• Support Academy events including inductions and workshops.
• Lead on recruitment for FP and YDP performance team.
• Assist HoP with Performance Department administrative duties.
• Lead on long-term CPD for FP and YDP performance staff
• Uphold the highest Safeguarding standards.
