Job summary

Rotherham United Football Club is seeking an Academy Head of Sports Science Performance to drive athletic development across U9-U18. This role oversees testing, monitoring wellbeing, and coordinating with coaches and medical staff to deliver a robust performance programme.

Responsibilities include planning strength and conditioning for all academy ages, leading data collection, and aligning training with the Academy Performance Plan to maximise player development and welfare.

Qualifications

• Assists the academy sports science & medicine department to meet needs as outlined in the APP.
• Implements academy sports science programme focused on athletic development of all academy players (U9-U18).
• Leads testing across all academy age groups (U9-U18).
• Coordinates with coaches and medical staff for plan alignment.

Responsibilities

• Report daily to academy manager and contribute to football department meetings.
• Monitor wellbeing and workload for the Professional Development Phase (U18) with academy manager and head of medical.
• Lead planning and implementation of athletic development programmes for all academy ages (U9-U16).
• Record anthropometric/physiological data to forecast maturation and complete physical testing across seasons.
• Plan and lead strength and conditioning sessions for all academy ages (U9-U18).
• Collaborate with phase coaches to organise training schedules, testing, and session intensity.
• Work with physiotherapy and medical staff to provide development sessions for injured academy players (U9-U16).
• Provide athletic development profiles for all academy and Youth Team players.
• Analyse GPS data and report findings to monitor loading for the U18 phase.
