Job summary

Trafford Council is seeking Bank Young People\'s Worker to support youth work sessions on a casual, ad hoc basis across Trafford, with main base at Talkshop in Sale. You will help run targeted groups, community youth work, or sessions in schools, building trusting relationships with young people aged 11-19 and guiding them through personal challenges.

About the Role

As a Bank Young People's Worker, you will work alongside Youth Work Practitioners to support youth work sessions on a casual, ad hoc basis, as and when required. Trafford Youth Service delivers centre-based targeted provision and community-based youth work across Trafford, with its main base at Talkshop in Sale. The role could include supporting targeted groups and activities, community youth work, or sessions delivered in schools.

You will build trusting relationships with young people aged 1119 helping them to learn about themselves and overcome the challenges they face. You may also provide information, advice and guidance on issues affecting young people, including mental health and emotional wellbeing, sexual health, relationships and much more.

About You

You must have experience of working in a similar setting and/or Vocational Youth Work or relevant Children and Young Peoples qualifications (Including careers guidance, youth justice etc.) to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or above. You should have undertaken basic safeguarding training and have at least 1 years’ experience of working (paid/unpaid) with young people in a youth/community setting. If unqualified to level 3 you may be considered for the band 2 role.

You will be passionate about youth work and enjoy working with young people from a wide range of backgrounds. You will have excellent communication and engagement skills and be able to build positive, trusting relationships with young people, including those who may be reluctant to engage. You will be confident in using a range of youth work tools, approaches and activities to encourage participation, build confidence and respond to young people's individual needs. You will be a positive role model, able to work effectively as part of a team, and committed to helping create safe, inclusive and enjoyable opportunities for young people.
