Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a Young Learner Development Assistant to support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 in welcoming primary schools. You will help pupils develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours, with targeted reading, writing and maths interventions.

Ideal graduates will have degrees in Childhood Studies, Psychology or Education and an enhanced DBS. The role offers long-term opportunities and a clear pathway into teaching and SEND support, with APSCo-compliant

Qualifications

• Degree obtained within the last five years.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A proactive, enthusiastic and adaptable approach.
• Experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 on a one-to-one, small group and whole-class basis.
• Help children develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.
• Deliver targeted interventions in Reading, Writing and Maths.
• Support pupils with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs and SEMH.
• Encourage positive social interactions and emotional development.
• Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive learning experiences.
• Support pupils’ communication, engagement and participation in lessons.
• Prepare classroom resources and learning materials.
• Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Contribute to a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

We’re currently recruiting for a Young Learner Development Assistant to work within welcoming and supportive Primary Schools, starting in September.

This exciting opportunity is ideal for graduates looking to gain valuable school-based experience before progressing into teaching, educational psychology, SEND support, speech and language therapy, social work or other child-focused professions.

As a Young Learner Development Assistant, you’ll support pupils academically, socially and emotionally, helping them build the confidence, resilience and skills needed to achieve their full potential.

Your Main Responsibilities

• Support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 on a one-to-one, small group and whole-class basis.
