Job summary

Milk Education is seeking a School Readiness Mentor to join welcoming Primary Schools from September. This role is ideal for graduates seeking school-based experience before moving into teaching, educational psychology, or SEND-related fields.

You will support children across EYFS to KS2, fostering academic, social, and communication skills, helping them build confidence and independent learning habits essential for long-term success.

Qualifications

  • Degree obtained within the last five years.
  • References covering the last two years.
  • Genuine passion for supporting children and young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, nurturing and proactive approach.
  • Experience with children or young people is desirable.
  • Enhanced DBS on Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and welfare of children.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 on a one-to-one, small group and whole-class basis.
  • Help children develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning.
  • Deliver targeted interventions to support literacy, numeracy and communication skills.
  • Support children with SEND (Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language, SEMH).
  • Encourage positive behaviour, social interaction and emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with teachers to identify and support pupils needing guidance.
  • Assist with classroom activities, learning resources and pupil engagement.
  • Promote attendance, participation and independence within the school environment.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.

We're currently recruiting for a School Readiness Mentor to work within welcoming and supportive Primary Schools, starting in September.

This rewarding opportunity is ideal for graduates looking to gain valuable school-based experience before progressing into teaching, educational psychology, SEND support, social work or other child-focused professions.

As a School Readiness Mentor, you'll support children in developing the academic, social, emotional and communication skills needed to thrive within the classroom environment. You'll play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, independence and positive learning habits that set them up for long-term success.

Your Main Responsibilities
  • Support pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 on a one-to-one, small group and whole-class basis.

  • Help children develop confidence, resilience and positive attitudes towards learning.

  • Deliver targeted interventions to support literacy, numeracy and communication skills.

  • Support children with SEND, including Autism, ADHD, Speech and Language needs and SEMH.

Ideal Background

We welcome applications from graduates who have completed one of the following degrees within the last five years:

  • Childhood Studies

  • Early Years Childhood Studies

  • Psychology

  • Criminology

  • BA Education

  • Primary Education

  • MA Education

  • MA Education (SEND and Inclusion)

  • PGCE

  • Other Education, Child Development or Social Science-related degrees

Requirements
