Job description

Personal Assistants support people to live well. They provide the right support at the right time to help others to live their best lives. Is this you? Do you want a job that is rewarding and fulfilling? The job: This post is to assist a lady who is an amputee and uses a wheelchair. Her Personal Assistants support her at home and in the community. Personal care support will be required, including the use of a hoist. Tasks include: personal care, light housework, cooking, shopping, assistance to attend support group meetings, hospital support visits for fellow amputees, visiting family and other social support. The successful applicant will be joining a small team of carers.

• You must have a caring nature, must be honest and reliable.
• Physical fitness is required in order to assist with transfers, and be able to push a manual wheelchair, although an electric wheelchair is used for longer journeys.
• Being a driver with the use of your own vehicle for work purposes would be an advantage, but not essential.
• First aid experience will be an advantage, but not essential.
• Care experience is not required as full training on the job will be provided.
• Non-smokers are preferred.

Hours and Pay

The support needed is from late morning until 6pm in the evening. Days and times to be agreed. 17.5 hours a week. More hours could be available to cover sickness and holidays. Flexible working is available. The rate of pay and benefits: £12.21 per hour. You will receive 5.6 paid holidays a year and the opportunity for training relevant to your role. Successful applicants must be eligible to work in the UK. Successful applicants will need an enhanced DBS for supporting adults. The cost will be met by the employer.
