Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking a Year Out Landscape Architecture Student to join the Parks and Greenspaces Development Team in Birmingham. This fixed-term, year-out opportunity offers hands-on experience shaping city parks and green spaces, with supervision from experienced Landscape Architects on a wide range of projects.

You will contribute to landscape design, base plans, planting schedules and site surveys, while developing practical skills in a multidisciplinary setting that supports

Qualifications

• Hold a degree in Landscape Architecture or equivalent.
• Passionate about creating attractive, sustainable and inclusive landscapes.
• Proficient in producing plans, drawings and presentation materials.
• Organised, detail-oriented and able to manage competing priorities.
• Strong communicator with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Keen to learn from experienced professionals and develop practical landscape architecture skills.
• Comfortable working both in the office and on-site as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Landscape Architects in the preparation and delivery of landscape projects.
• Produce base plans, sketch layouts, design details and planting schedules.
• Prepare specifications and health and safety documentation in line with CDM Regulations.
• Create presentation drawings and visual materials for committees, exhibitions and public meetings.
• Support site surveys and help record and analyse survey information.
• Provide technical and administrative support to the Parks and Greenspaces Development Team.
• Contribute to the design and development of projects that enhance Birmingham's public spaces and natural environment.
