Job summary

Westborough High School, Stockhill Street, Dewsbury, is seeking a Year Leader to support a specific year group within its Behaviour for Learning Team. The role focuses on improving pupil attitudes to learning and behaviour and requires strong interpersonal skills with teenagers, parents and agencies.

Permanent, term-time plus 5 days, Grade 9, salary £30,986 - £33,548. You will contribute to safeguarding and work under the Headteacher’s leadership at this 11-16 school.

Qualifications

• The ability to effectively communicate with children/young people, school staff and outside agencies.
• Understanding of child development and learning including Special Educational Needs and Child Protection Procedures.
• Experience mentoring and one-to-one support with young people, including those with challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities

• Support the year group on a daily basis to improve attitudes to learning and behaviour.
• Be a key member of the Behaviour for Learning Team liaising with senior leaders and staff.
• Build positive relationships with pupils, parents, external agencies and school staff.
