Job summary

RWE Renewables UK Management Ltd. is offering a Year in Industry placement in Swindon with a hybrid model: three days on-site and two days remote.

You will gain practical insight into electrical system design for offshore wind projects and interact with transmission interfaces, substations, and wind turbine generators. The role focuses on safety in design, the project lifecycle from development to operation, and contributing to HVAC/HVDC system design.

Qualifications

• Ongoing studies in Electrical Engineering.
• Eligibility to complete a year in industry placement as part of the degree programme.
• Very good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate workloads independently and meet tight deadlines.
• Confidence working in a diverse team environment and engaging with a range of stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel to other sites when required, with travel expenses covered.

• A minimum of five years’ residence in the UK due to the potential requirement for National Security Vetting.

Responsibilities

• Gain practical insight into electrical system design for offshore wind projects.
• Develop an understanding of the interfaces between transmission systems, onshore and offshore substations and wind turbine generators.
• Build awareness of the importance of safety throughout project design and operation.
• Work across the project lifecycle from development through construction to operation, supporting a robust through-life electrical system design.
• Contribute to the main electrical system design, including onshore and offshore HVAC and HVDC systems.
• Create electrical system simulation models and analyse system behaviour and grid code compliance.
• Visit project sites to gain first-hand insight into their development and delivery.
• Take ownership of a defined project with a scope agreed by the team.
