Job summary

Coventry City Council is seeking a positive and dedicated Class Teacher to cover maternity leave in a Year 5 class at Whitley Abbey Primary School. You will create an engaging classroom where pupils feel excited to learn and are supported to achieve academically.

The role demands high expectations, inclusive practice, and collaboration with staff and families. DBS checks and safeguarding clearances are required. Fixed-term maternity cover for two terms (Jan–Aug 2027).

Qualifications

• Enthusiastic, effective classroom practitioner with high expectations for every pupil.
• Uses well-sequenced lessons to ensure strong pupil progress.
• Applies assessment to identify needs and adapt teaching accordingly.
• Commitment to inclusive practice and raising attainment for SEND and disadvantaged pupils.
