Job summary

Cheviot Area School is seeking a motivated teacher to join our primary team teaching a Year 3 class for the 2027 school year. The successful applicant will hold current New Zealand teacher registration and a current practising certificate, show effective classroom practice, and foster strong relationships with students, whānau, and staff.

The role is a full-time fixed-term position from 28 January 2027 to 27 January 2028, covering maternity leave.

Qualifications

• Hold current New Zealand teacher registration and practis[ing] certificate.
• Demonstrate effective classroom teaching practice.
• Be committed to student wellbeing and achievement.
• Work collaboratively as part of a teaching team.
• Have knowledge of structured literacy and current curriculum practices.

Responsibilities

• Teach Year 3 in a full-time, fixed-term capacity.
• Plan and deliver engaging literacy and numeracy lessons.
• Assess and monitor student progress and provide feedback.
• Build positive relationships with students, whānau and colleagues.
• Collaborate with the teaching team to support all learners.
