Job description

Job Title: SEN Support Worker

Provide one-on-one support to a child with SEN in a KS1 setting.

Assist in the implementation of individualised education plans and behaviour management strategies.

Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes the academic, social, and emotional development of the student.

Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure the student's needs are met effectively.

Support the student in accessing the curriculum and adapting learning materials as necessary.

Monitor and record the student's progress, behaviors, and achievements.

Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably in a school setting.
  • A qualification related to working with children in schools, such as Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning.
  • Knowledge and understanding of various special educational needs, particularly physical disabilities and communication aids.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviors effectively and sensitively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the educational development of children with SEN.
  • Experience working with physical disabilities and familiarity with communication aids.
  • Training or certifications in relevant areas such as Makaton, PECS, or Team-Teach.
  • Understanding of KS1 curriculum and teaching methods.

All pay rates quoted include statutory holiday pay of 12.07%. This is a temporary position, with potential for permanence later.
