Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a Year 2/3 team. This is an excellent opportunity to support children at a key transition stage between Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2. Starting ASAP.

Duties as a Year 2/3 Teaching Assistant:

• Work alongside the class teacher to support teaching and learning across a mixed Year 2/3 class.

• Provide targeted support to individual pupils and small groups, including those with additional needs.

• Assist in preparing classroom materials, setting up activities, and maintaining an engaging learning environment.

• Promote positive behaviour, encourage independence, and support pupils' social and emotional development.

• Contribute to the assessment and monitoring of pupil progress.

• Support with classroom routines, displays, and the smooth running of daily activities.

Ideal Year 2/3 Teaching Assistant:

• Experience working with children in a primary setting, ideally within Key Stage 1 and/or Key Stage 2.

• A caring, flexible and proactive approach to supporting young learners.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills as a Year 2/3 Teaching Assistant.

• A good understanding of the Year 2 and Year 3 curriculum.

• A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable).

• A commitment to safeguarding and supporting the wellbeing of all pupils.
