Job summary

Teach Plus are recruiting a caring Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Edgware, starting ASAP. This full-time role provides dedicated support to a Year 1 pupil with ASD, working with the class teacher and SEN team to help the pupil access learning and develop communication and social skills.

The school is large and inclusive, with a strong community ethos and a broad curriculum. Inclusion and pupil wellbeing are central, with staff working together to meet individual needs

Qualifications

• Experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
• Strong subject/curriculum knowledge relevant to the role.
• Enhanced DBS Certificate with the Update Service.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated support for a Year 1 pupil with ASD
• Support the pupil in accessing classroom learning and participating in activities
• Implement appropriate strategies to support communication, emotional regulation and engagement
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interactions
• Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to provide consistent support
• Monitor the pupil's progress and adapt support according to their individual needs

About the role and school

Teach Plus are currently recruiting for a caring and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Edgware, starting ASAP. This full-time Teaching Assistant role will involve providing dedicated support to a child in Year 1 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with the class teacher and SEN team to help the pupil access learning, develop their communication and social skills, and build confidence and independence within the classroom.

The school is a large, inclusive primary school with a strong community ethos and a commitment to ensuring every child feels valued and supported. The school offers a broad and engaging curriculum within a positive learning environment, supported by experienced leadership and a collaborative staff team. This Teaching Assistant position would particularly suit someone with previous experience supporting children with ASD or other special educational needs.
