Job summary

Johnstons of Elgin is seeking a Yarn Store Operative to join our busy Yarn Store. You will be responsible for processing incoming and outgoing yarn, stock taking, winding, and ensuring the correct yarn supplies reach internal departments on time.

This full-time role is 38 hours per week on a three‑shift rotation (early, back, night) with a starting rate of £13.45 per hour plus shift pay. Training is provided and the work is hands-on, requiring good numeracy, attention to detail and team

Job Title: Yarn Store Operative

We are currently recruiting for a Yarn Store Operative to join our busy Yarn Store. Our growing Yarn Store is like a library of wool cones, stacked floor to ceiling with classic and new colours. We currently have a vacancy available involving a range of tasks including, but not limited to, booking in yarns, issuing yarns, stock taking, stock control, and winding.

This is a full-time, permanent position working 38 hours per week on a three-shift rotation (early, back, and night).

Rate of pay starting from £13.45 per hour, along with shift pay allowance.

About the Role

As a Yarn Store Operative here at Johnstons of Elgin, your key responsibilities will include:

• Processing incoming and outgoing yarn,
• Ensuring internal departments receive the correct yarn supplies on time
• Conducting regular stock takes and maintaining accurate stock records
• Storing yarn correctly and in accordance with company standards
• Working with attention to details while achieving required output levels

Additional duties include assisting with operating winding machines as required.

This role involves physical work with some manual handling tasks required. All training will be provided.
