Job summary

Clancy is seeking a Yard Person in Lenham to maintain the yard, handle materials, and support daily operations. You will manage deliveries, coordinate requests, keep accurate records, and ensure environmental compliance by proper disposal and recycling.

Ideal candidates will have a valid UK driving licence and experience in stores/material handling within a construction or utilities yard. Outdoor, physically demanding work with exposure to weather is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience with stores and material handling in a utilities or construction yard.
• Full valid UK driving licence is essential.
• Forklift and HGV licences are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Follow all safety regulations, use PPE, and report hazards.
• Assist with deliveries, coordinate material and equipment requests, and support daily operations.
• Maintain accurate records of materials and equipment, and complete inventory paperwork.
• Manage the skips on site, ensuring correct disposal and recycling where possible.
• Monitor all vehicles, ensuring compliance with depot safety and driving rules.
• Assist with stock checks as required.
• Keep the yard clean and tidy, perform routine inspections.

The Role:

We have an opportunity for a Yard Person to join our team in Lenham. As a Yard Person you will be responsible for the overall maintenance, organisation, and cleanliness of the yard area. This role involves handling, moving, and storing various materials, tools, and equipment. The Yard Person ensures that the yard is safe, efficient, and operationally ready for daily activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various weather conditions.

Here are some of the activities you will be involved with...

• Follow all safety regulations, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and report any hazards immediately.
• Assist with deliveries, coordinate material and equipment requests, and support daily operations.
• Maintain accurate records of materials and equipment, complete inventory paperwork, and communicate effectively with the team.
• Manage the skips on site, ensuring that all refuse and materials are correctly disposed of in the appropriate skips minimising environmental impact by recycling at every opportunity.
• Monitoring all vehicles, ensuring they comply with depot site safety and driving rules.
• Assist with the stock checks as and when required.
• Keep the yard clean and tidy, perform routine inspections.

We would love to hear from you if...

You have experience of stores and material handling within a utilities or construction yard/site, excellent organisation, and the ability to perform in a high-volume environment with a focus on service delivery

A full & valid UK Driving Licence, is essential. If you can also operate a forklift and possess a HGV licence, even better!

Working conditions primarily involve outdoor work in various weather conditions, with physical labour such as lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
