Job summary

John F Hunt Power is seeking a Depot Assistant/Yardman for our busy depot in Livingston. You will support the Foreman and Depot Manager in day-to-day operations and may perform field-based work as required by the business.

The role is mostly depot-based with some site visits. A competitive salary is offered, plus 25 days’ annual leave and Bank Holidays.

Qualifications

• Full UK driving licence (minimum 3 years)
• Forklift licence preferable (training provided)
• Ability to tow trailers (training provided)
• Able to work in a team and on own initiative
• Good communication across levels
• Commitment to excellent customer service

Responsibilities

• Loading and off-loading of equipment
• Check equipment on return to depot
• Complete paperwork for deliveries/collections
• Inspect returned equipment for damage and report issues
• Daily defect reports on forklift trucks
• Assist Foreman and engineers in preparing equipment for hire
• Make deliveries to site using company vehicles (towing as needed)
• Keep a clean and tidy workplace
• Follow Health & Safety guidelines at all times

Job description

We are currently looking for a Depot Assistant/Yardman to join our busy depot in Livingston.

In this role, the successful candidate will provide support to the Foreman and Depot Manager in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the depot.

The role will be predominately based in the Depot, with some field-based work as and when required by the business. The job comes with a competitive salary, 25 days paid annual leave plus Bank Holidays.

Responsibilities include (but are not restricted to) the following:

• Loading and off-loading of equipment as necessary
• Ensuring all equipment is checked in on return to the depot
• Completing the necessary paperwork associated with deliveries/collections
• Inspecting equipment on return to the depot for signs of mis-use and reporting any damage to office staff
• Daily defect reports on forklift trucks to be completed
• Assisting Foreman and engineers in preparing equipment for hire
• Make deliveries to site using company vehicles, may on occasion include towing equipment to/from site
• Maintaining a clean and tidy workplace
• Adhere to Health & Safety guidelines at all times.
