Job summary

Wernick Hire in the UK seeks a hands-on Yard Operative/Handyperson to maintain and prepare our modular buildings and site accommodation units. You will perform upkeep, repairs, and servicing with a focus on efficiency and safety across the depot.

Experience in cabins fitting or plumbing/joinery/electrical work is an advantage. The role offers a strong team environment, regular work, and opportunities for progression within a long-standing, family-run company.

Qualifications

• Experience in plumbing, joinery or electrical work is highly beneficial.
• Hands-on role requiring multitasking and prioritising workloads.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and upkeep of cabins and buildings per directions.
• Service mobile welfare units to keep them in top condition.
• Carry out repairs during site visits in a timely manner.
• Check and store returned furniture in yard and remove from cabins.
• Assist with forklift maintenance and safe loading/unloading tasks.
• Maintain a tidy yard and workshop and support safety compliance.

Job description

• Maintenance and Upkeep: Clean, paint, and perform general maintenance on cabins and buildings as directed.


• Servicing: Service mobile welfare units to ensure they're in top condition.


• Repairs: Conduct site visits to carry out necessary repairs promptly.


• Furniture Management: Check and store furniture returned to the yard, ensuring it's properly removed from cabins and placed back in storage.


• Forklift Maintenance: Keep the forklift truck in excellent working order.


• Efficiency: Minimise material wastage and assist with the safe loading and unloading of cabins, buildings, and materials.


• Housekeeping: Maintain a clean and organised yard and workshop at all times.


• Safety Compliance: Adhere to current health and safety legislation to ensure a safe working environment.
  Technical Expertise: Experience in plumbing, joinery, or electrical work is highly beneficial.


• Multitasking: Ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload effectively., Customer Service Commitment: Dedicated to providing first-class service and support.
