Job summary

The Yard Operative role is based in Battle and is offered by Sammons Recruitment Ltd on behalf of our client. The position covers a busy mix of yard duties, goods in/out, quality checks, packaging and general warehouse support.

You will join a friendly team, receive full training on QC processes, and work day shifts with a reliable, hands-on approach to keep operations running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Valid UK driving licence is essential.
• Owning a forklift licence is highly desirable.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings with training.
• Good IT skills and basic numeracy.
• Comfortable with heavy lifting and manual handling.

Responsibilities

• Assist with goods in and goods out processes.
• Package and prepare completed projects for customers.
• Perform quality checks on finished products after training.
• Work from engineering drawings and complete relevant documentation.
• Prepare full pallet listings and keep project records up to date.
• Load and unload vehicles; operate a forklift where required.
• Support stock and consumable control.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace.
• Provide cover at another local warehouse site when needed.

Yard Operative

Our client is looking for a reliable and hands‑on Yard Operative to join their busy team. This is a varied role combining yard duties, goods in and goods out, quality checking, packaging and general warehouse support.

The successful Yard Operative candidate will be organised and comfortable working as part of a friendly team. Full training will be provided on the quality control processes.

Yard Operative - Responsibilities

• Supporting goods in and goods out processes
• Packaging and preparing completed projects for customers
• Carrying out quality checks on finished products following training
• Working from engineering drawings and completing relevant documentation
• Preparing full pallet listings and keeping project records up to date
• Loading and unloading vehicles using a forklift where required
• Supporting stock and consumable control
• Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment
• Providing occasional cover at another local warehouse site when required

Yard Operative - Skills & Experience

• Full UK driving licence is essential
• Previous experience within a yard, warehouse, steelwork or similar environment would be advantageous
• Forklift licence would be highly desirable
• Ability to understand engineering drawings would be beneficial, although training can be provided
• Good IT skills
• Comfortable carrying out some heavy lifting
• Flexible and able to manage changing priorities
