Job summary

Knights Recruitment is seeking a hardworking Yard Operative to join a busy recycling facility in the United Kingdom. You will move recyclable materials around the site, load and unload vehicles, and support day-to-day operations, ensuring safety and efficiency in line with environmental standards.

This hands-on role requires experience in recycling, waste handling or warehouse environments, a valid Counterbalance forklift license (preferred), and a reliable, team-focused attitude suitable for

Qualifications

• Previous clam / claw / grab driving or front loading shovel experience.
• A valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence is preferred.
• Experience in recycling, waste management, warehouse, manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Physically fit and capable of manual handling duties.
• Strong awareness of health and safety.
• Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team.
• Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift truck safely to move recyclable materials around the site.
• Load and unload HGVs, trailers and containers.
• Sort, move and store recyclable materials in designated areas.
• Feed production or processing areas with materials as required.
• Maintain a clean, tidy and safe recycling yard.
• Carry out routine equipment checks and report any defects.
• Assist with general recycling and waste processing duties.
• Follow all environmental, quality and health & safety procedures.
• Support colleagues to ensure daily production targets are achieved.
• Complete basic paperwork and stock movements where required.

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm

About the Role

We are recruiting for a hardworking and reliable Yard Operative to join our growing recycling and waste management operation.

This is a varied, hands-on role where you'll be responsible for safely moving recyclable materials around the site, loading and unloading vehicles, and supporting the day-to-day operation of a busy recycling facility. Working as part of a close-knit team, you'll help ensure materials are processed safely, efficiently, and in line with environmental and health & safety standards.

This role would suit candidates with previous experience in recycling, waste management, warehouse, manufacturing, production, aggregates, scrap metal, industrial, or yard environments.

Please note: Previous clam / claw / grab driving or front loading shovel experience is essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift truck safely to move recyclable materials around the site.
