Job summary

Dunbia is seeking a Yard Operative to carry out yard duties at our Retail site in the United Kingdom. You will handle bins, pallets and crates, operate a forklift, and help keep the yard clean and organised, ensuring efficient handovers to production and compliance with safety standards.

Ideal candidates will have forklift experience or a license (training available) and the ability to work independently as part of a team, with good communication to support smooth operations across shifts.

Qualifications

• Forklift experience preferred and safety-conscious operation.
• Current Forklift license is desirable; training provided if not held.

Responsibilities

• Empty bins and tidy security hut and car park.
• Move crates/pallets from outside shop to the yard.
• Operate a forklift to empty bins into skips and load/unload lorries.
• Store and supply production with clean bins, trays and pallets.
• Remove bins and pallets from incoming lorries and maintain yard cleanliness.
• Wash plastic pallets and assist with cold store transfers as needed.
• Sort pallets and ensure crate store is stocked for production the next day.
• Keep external doors closed when not in use and uphold health and safety standards.

Overview

We are currently seeking to recruit a Yard Operative who to will be responsible for carrying out yard duties for our Retail site.

Responsibilities

• Empty bins and tidy security hut and car park


• Remove crates/pallets from outside shop and bring to the yard


• Operate a forklift to empty bins into skips, load and unload lorries


• Store and supply production with clean bins, trays and pallets


• Remove bins and pallets of crates and packaging/ingredients from incoming lorries


• Maintain the yard area and ensure it is kept clean and tidy


• Wash plastic pallets / bring to cold store when required


• Sort out stacks of blue and white pallets and sort


• Make sure crate store is full of crates for production next day


• Ensuring external doors are kept closed at all times when not in use


• Maintain Health, Safety and Hygiene standards in accordance with Company rules and regulations

Qualifications

• Previous experience of operating a forklift is advantageous


• A Current Forklift license is desired, although not essential as training will be provided


• Demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative whilst working as part of a team striving to achieve high levels of customer service


• Good communication skills are essential
