Job summary

Network Plus is seeking a Yard Operative in Worsley to manage yard operations, stock, and safety. You will coordinate equipment, signs, and PPE, while ensuring a secure, efficient depot environment and adherence to company policies.

The role requires a permanent, full-time commitment with strong organisational and computer skills, plus a valid UK driving licence. Telehandler licence is a plus.

Qualifications

• Excellent organisational skills.

• Telehandler licence preferable.
• Basic computer knowledge and literacy.

Responsibilities

• Good computer skills to use sign making software for production of specific road signs.
• Ensure planned work jobs have their required equipment pre-picked in advance and report shortages.
• Capable of assigning operatives in the depot when they have dead time.
• Monitor battery charging and quantities, and report to management.
• Carry out weekly stock checks to keep kit levels topped up.
• Report shortages of equipment as needed.
• Monitor PPE levels, issue PPE and report to management.
• Ensure all plant and equipment are in full working order and carry out minor maintenance where needed.
• Keep depot areas safe, clean and tidy and ensure yard security is maintained.

Yard Operative

Compensation: £12.71 / hour

Description

As a Yard Operative, you will have ultimate responsibility for everything that moves within your yard and stores. The role is to ensure efficiency and smooth running in the depot which in turns gives efficiency and compliance on sites whilst maintaining the company procedures and policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Good computer skills to allow you to utilise the sign making software for the production of Specific road signs.
• Ensure that all planned work jobs have their required equipment prepicked in advance of the works, and report any shortfalls.
• Capable of putting operatives to work in the depot when they have dead time through the day.
• Monitor Battery Charging, Monitor battery quantities, and record and report to their manager.
• Carry out weekly stock checks to ensure that kit levels are kept on top of.
• Report shortages of equipment as and when needed.
• Monitor PPE levels, Issue PPE and record and report to their manager.
• Ensure that all plant and equipment is in full working order, where necessary to carry out minor maintenance of this equipment
• Ensure a safe working environment; walking the depot regularly to check all areas are safe and free of any potential hazards.
• Ensure that the yard / stores areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.
• Keep security of the yard / stores to the highest level, ensuring Secured areas are monitored daily.
• Ensure that space in the yards / stores areas are optimised
• Must be able to follow company Policies and Procedures.
