Job summary

IAA is seeking a proactive Yard Operative to join our Banbury site. You’ll help manage vehicle movement, prepare for deliveries, collections, and storage, and support the on-site team with daily yard tasks.

The role is based on day shift, requires a full driving licence, and offers training, PPE, and steady pay with benefits including pension and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driving licence.
• Experience working outside in all weather conditions.
• Ability to record vehicle damage clearly and accurately in the system.
• Forklift experience is a plus and onsite training can be provided.
• Able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Basic IT skills for logging and data entry.
• Desirable prior experience on salvage sites or with vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Day-to-day yard duties focusing on vehicle movement and organisation.
• Clean vehicles as needed to ensure high quality images.
• Process logbooks, documentation packs and keys per safety and GDPR rules.
• Support GDPR & Salvage Personal Belongings Team with compliance and SLAs.
• Ensure quality control with no damage to vehicles or parts.
• Liaise with customers or drivers for loading/offloading vehicles.
• Meet and greet customers, arrange loading and handle outstanding payments.
• Maintain housekeeping to create a safe, efficient yard environment.
• Assist with stock inventory and general yard tasks.
• Destickering vehicles in line with client agreements.
• Maintain high health and safety standards at all times.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Yard Duties

• Day-to-day yard duties with a focus on vehicle movement and organisation ensuring vehicles are processed along company pathway for deliveries, collections, marketing, and storage
• Clean vehicles as necessary to ensure high quality images
• Processing of logbooks, doc pack and keys that are either filed safety or disposed of correctly following GDPR rules
• Supporting GDPR & Salvage Personal Belongings Team with GDPR compliance & contractual SLA’s
• Ensuring quality control every step of the way with no damage to vehicles or parts
• Liaising with customers or our drivers loading and offloading vehicles
• Meet and greet customers coming to site, organise them for loading and help with their outstanding payments ensuring they all enter site appropriately dressed with the correct PPE etc.
• Maintain and take ownership of general housekeeping within your area and manage to a high standard to create a safe and streamline environment
• Supporting with processing stock inventory
• Destickering (taking stickers off vehicles) in line with client agreements and compliance
• Maintaining the highest health & safety standards within work environment

Here’s what you bring:

• Suitable candidates must have a full driving license
• Experience of working outside in all weathers
• The ability to accurately record the damage of vehicles, onto our system in a clear and concise manner
• Experience of using a forklift would be an advantage but not essential (onsite Forklift training with a reputable provider will be funded by the company)
• Able to work as part of a team
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
• Excellent attention to detail
• Basic IT skills
• Previous experience working in a salvage site and knowledge and/or an interest in motor vehicles would also be desirable but not essential
