Job summary

Forterra Building Products is seeking a proactive Yard Manager for our Desford site. You will lead day-to-day yard operations, oversee stockyard teams, and drive safe, efficient processes from gate entry to dispatch, ensuring material availability and high customer service standards.

The role requires strong leadership, safety commitment, and continuous improvement mindset in a fast-paced environment. You will report to the Yard Operations leadership and contribute to a culture of excellence.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading yard/warehouse operations.
• Strong health and safety discipline with COSHH awareness.
• Ability to plan for yard efficiency, inventory accuracy and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily yard operations and logistics activities.
• Lead yard operatives and stockyard teams with a focus on performance and safety.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and operational discipline.
• Coordinate movement of finished goods from production to dispatch.
• Develop and implement site-wide plans to improve yard efficiency and material availability.
• Monitor and improve inventory turnover and stock rotation.
