Job summary

Alecto Recruitment is seeking a Yard Manager for the Chertsey site to lead a busy yard and drive high-output, safe operations. You will own the space, people, and plant, ensuring structure, pace and standards are in place to keep repairs flowing and uptime high.

You’ll manage daily yard operations, lead fitters, yard staff and contractors, schedule maintenance, enforce health and safety, and report on plant status and performance. A proven track record in site management is essential.

Qualifications

• Strong management experience leading teams.
• Understanding of machinery, servicing cycles, and what “fit for site” means.
• Ability to keep a yard tidy, structured, and under control.
• Confident decision-maker with authority and accountability.

Responsibilities

• Daily yard operations – organising workflow and keeping the yard running efficiently.
• Team leadership – managing fitters, yard staff, drivers and contractors.
• Plant control & movement – tracking inbound and outbound items and urgent attention needs.
• Maintenance scheduling – planning servicing and inspections to maximise uptime.
• Quality checks – ensuring machines leave the yard safe and compliant.
• Stock & parts management – keeping consumables and spares available.
• Health & safety enforcement – maintaining a clean, safe yard environment.
• Reporting & communication – updates on plant status, staffing and performance.
