Job summary

Alecto Recruitment is supporting a Chertsey-based yard to recruit a Yard Manager who will own daily yard operations, lead fitters and contractors, and drive a safe, productive environment. The role focuses on structure, pace and high standards across the yard.

You will implement maintenance scheduling, manage stock and parts, ensure quality checks, and uphold health and safety standards while providing clear updates on plant status and staffing to management.

Responsibilities

• Daily yard operations - organise workflow, prioritise repairs and keep the yard running efficiently.

• Plant control & movement - track incoming/outgoing items and urgent attention needs.
• Maintenance scheduling - plan servicing, inspections and repairs to maximise uptime.
• Quality checks - ensure machines leave the yard safe, compliant and functional.
• Stock & parts management - keep consumables, spares and components organised and available.
• Health & safety enforcement - maintain a clean, safe, compliant yard environment.
• Reporting & communication - provide clear updates on plant status, staffing and performance.

Yard Manager - Chertsey Site (£50k+)

The Mission

The Chertsey yard is where everything starts and everything returns. Machines come in needing attention, parts need organising, fitters need direction, and deadlines don't wait. This role isn't about standing back - it's about stepping in, taking control, and running a yard that operates with structure, pace, and proper standards.

What You'll Take Charge Of

• Daily yard operations - organising workflow, prioritising repairs, and keeping the yard running efficiently.

• Plant control & movement - tracking what's coming in, what's going out, and what needs urgent attention.

• Stock & parts management - keeping consumables, spares, and critical components organised and available.
