Job summary

ALECTO RECRUITMENT LTD is seeking a Yard Manager at our Chertsey site to lead daily yard operations, manage a team of fitters and drivers, and drive a disciplined, high-output operation. You will direct plant control, maintenance scheduling, and ensure quality and safety standards across the yard.

The role requires strong management experience, plant knowledge, and decisive leadership to keep the yard productive and compliant, with clear accountability and effective communication across staff

Responsibilities

• Daily yard operations: oversee workflow and ensure smooth running of the yard.
• Team leadership: manage fitters, yard staff, drivers and contractors with clear direction.
• Plant control & movement: track inbound/outbound items and urgent attention needs.
• Maintenance scheduling: plan servicing, inspections and repairs to maximise uptime.
• Quality checks: ensure yard outputs are safe, compliant and in good condition.
• Stock & parts management: keep consumables and spares organised and available.
• Health & safety enforcement: maintain a safe, compliant yard environment.
• Reporting & communication: provide updates on plant status and performance.

Salary: GBP50000 - GBP55000 per annum + benefits

What You'll Take Charge Of

Daily yard operations - organising workflow, prioritising repairs, and keeping the yard running efficiently.

Team leadership - managing fitters, yard staff, drivers, and contractors with clear direction and accountability.

Plant control & movement - tracking what's coming in, what's going out, and what needs urgent attention.

Maintenance scheduling - planning servicing, inspections, and repairs to maximise uptime.

Quality checks - ensuring machines leave the yard safe, compliant, and in proper working order.

Stock & parts management - keeping consumables, spares, and critical components organised and available.

Health & safety enforcement - maintaining a clean, safe, compliant yard environment.

Reporting & communication - providing clear updates on plant status, staffing, and operational performance.
