Job summary

Orion Electrotech Ltd is seeking an experienced Yard Controller in Peterborough to oversee day-to-day yard operations, goods in/out, stock control and logistics across multiple sites. You will lead a team of four operatives, with plans to grow, and drive improvements to increase efficiency and dispatch accuracy.

The role demands hands-on leadership, strong organisational skills and a proactive approach to process optimization in a busy manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Yard Controller, Yard Supervisor, Yard Manager or similar.
• Experience leading or supervising a team.
• Strong goods in/goods out experience.
• Forklift licence beneficial but not essential
• Experience handling large, awkward or oversized products
• Strong organisational and stock control skills
• Ability to implement improvements and take ownership

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate daily yard operations
• Lead and support a team of 4 operatives, with plans to grow further
• Oversee goods in and goods out activities
• Ensure stock is accurately stored, organised and easily located
• Coordinate product movement between nearby sites
• Operate a forklift when required
• Improve yard layout, organisation and efficiency
• Work closely with production and logistics teams
• Monitor stock movements and inventory levels
• Ensure customer orders are dispatched accurately and on time
• Maintain a safe and efficient working environment
