Job summary

Cox Automotive is seeking an Operations Assistant in Colchester to support daily yard operations. You will help with the safe and timely movement of vehicles, following auction procedures and health, safety, and environmental standards.

You will organise vehicles for auction, drive requested vehicles, and ensure proper pre-sale documentation. The role involves ensuring a neat yard, compliant with site rules and Cox policy, with opportunities for progression within the Cox Automotive network.

Qualifications

• Adhere to health and safety regulations and site guidelines.
• Move vehicles efficiently to support smooth operational flow.
• Basic understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) legislation.
• Able to confidently operate required technology and hardware to support key operational processes.
• Ability to drive a wide range of vehicles, including various ignition systems and transmissions.

Responsibilities

• Organise and present vehicles for auction in line with company and vendor standards.
• Safely drive vehicles as instructed, including potential collection and delivery tasks.
• Assist in arranging and manoeuvring vehicles to ensure a clean, professional, and orderly yard layout.
• Ensure all vehicles are prepared and displayed with accurate pre-sale documentation.
• Drive responsibly and professionally, following site rules and safety policies.
• Support the valet team by locating and moving vehicles as needed.
• Promote a safe working environment by following health and safety procedures and reporting concerns.
• Assist with vehicle imaging processes to ensure high-quality visual records.
• Contribute to vehicle pre-inspection activities for auction readiness.
• Support additional operational tasks to deliver efficient auction services.
• Operate entry/exit points and manage key handling per policy.
• Maintain a calm, courteous, professional approach when interacting with customers and colleagues.
