Responsibilities

• Coordinate vehicle arrivals, departures and movements with the admin team.
• Direct HGVs, drivers and other vehicles to loading, unloading and parking areas.
• Maintain safe, efficient traffic flow across the yard.
• Ensure routes comply with site traffic management procedures.
• Communicate clearly with drivers and site staff about movements and deliveries.
• Monitor movements to minimise congestion and risks.
• Maintain awareness of pedestrians and hazards in the yard.
• Enforce site safety rules and health & safety standards.
• Report incidents or issues to the relevant team.
• Support daily yard operations in a busy manufacturing environment.

Job description

Job&Talent is looking for a reliable and safety conscious Yard Marshall to join our team, supporting operations within the Unipart,JCB manufacturing environment. This role involves working closely with the Gathouse administrative team to direct vehicles to the correct destinations, coordinate vehicle movements and maintain safe, efficient traffic flow throughout the site.

Shift Patterns:

• Monday - Thursday: 06:00am - 15:00pm
• Friday: 06:00am - 12:00pm

Pay Rates:

• Standard: £14.16 per hour
• Overtime: £21.24 per hour (paid after 39 standard hours)

Key Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Gathouse admin team to coordinate vehicle arrivals, departures and movements
• Direct HGVs, delivery drivers and other vehicles to the correct loading, unloading and parking areas
• Maintain safe and efficient traffic flow throughout the yard
• Ensure vehicles follow the correct routes and comply with site traffic management procedures
• Communicate clearly with drivers, site staff and administrative teams regarding vehicle movements and delivery requirements
• Monitor vehicle movements to minimise congestion and reduce the risk of accidents
• Maintain awareness of pedestrians, moving vehicles and potential hazards within the yard
• Ensure all site safety rules, traffic management procedures and health and safety standards are followed
• Report any incidents, hazards, delays or vehicle-related issues to the relevant team
• Support the smooth running of daily yard operations in a busy manufacturing environment

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a yard marshalling, traffic management or vehicle coordination role is desirable
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures and vehicle movements
• Ability to remain alert and focused in a busy, fast-paced yard environment
• Confident directing HGV drivers and communicating clear instructions
• Good attention to detail and the ability to identify potential hazards
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual and committed to maintaining high safety standards
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
