Job summary

James Kemball, part of the GB Global Group, is seeking a reliable Multi-Skilled Operative for our Felixstowe container depot. The role focuses on safe movement, storage and handling of equipment within an open yard environment.

You will operate Counterbalance Forklift Trucks, undertake yard duties, and support loading, stocking and dispatch activities while maintaining safety, accuracy and customer service standards.

Qualifications

• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence.
• Experience operating counterbalance forklifts in outdoor yard.
• Strong health and safety understanding in logistics/industrial environments.
• Experience loading/unloading vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather.
• Flexible approach to changing operational priorities.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate Counterbalance Forklift Trucks in accordance with procedures and safety standards.
• Load, unload, move, and position materials, equipment, and cargo throughout the yard.
• Support vehicle loading and unloading activities.
• Assist with receipt, storage, control, and dispatch of equipment and materials.
• Carry out routine daily forklift checks and report defects or maintenance needs.
• Record movements and activities in company systems and documentation.
• Maintain safe traffic routes and storage areas within the yard.
• Conduct visual inspections of equipment and materials and report concerns.
• Support housekeeping to maintain a clean, safe working environment.
• Assist with stock checks, inventory movements, and location management.
• Collaborate with supervisors and colleagues to meet targets and customer requirements.
• Support general depot and yard duties as required.
• Build positive relationships with customers, drivers, contractors and colleagues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for safety and efficiency.
