Yard & Warehouse Supervisor

Location: Southend-on-Sea, Essex
Salary: £33,000 – £36,500 per annum
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Monday to Friday: 7:00 am – 5:00 pm (Alternate Saturday mornings (March–November): 7:30 am – 12:30 pm)

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead warehouse and yard staff, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations
  • Manage goods in/out, stock control, and loading/unloading of deliveries
  • Support trade counter activity and liaise with customers to provide excellent service
  • Plan daily workloads, ensuring tasks are allocated effectively
  • Carry out people management duties, including appraisals, training, and performance reviews
  • Operate forklifts (Counterbalance/Combi) where required
  • Maintain high standards of health, safety, and site housekeeping
  • Assist with stock checks and accurate record-keeping
Candidate Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years’ supervisory experience in a warehouse/yard environment
  • Background in timber, construction, or building materials distribution (essential)
  • Valid Counterbalance or Combi Forklift Truck certification (in-date)
  • Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
  • Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling/heavy lifting
  • Able to work in all weather conditions and on your feet throughout the day
  • Reliable, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team
