Job summary

Gatehouse Primary Academy in Dawlish is seeking an Out of School Club Playworker for 8 hours per week during term time. The role focuses on safeguarding, assisting with activities, and supervising meals after school, within a supportive team.

DBS enhanced disclosure is required and the post aligns with the school’s safeguarding policies. The position can be combined with the Mealtime Assistant role; applicants should indicate interest in both when applying.

Job description

Your Role

First Federation Trust, a Multi Academy Trust of 29 primary schools, is seeking to recruit an Out of School Club Playworker at Gatehouse Primary Academy.

Gatehouse Primary is a large coastal school situated on the edge of the town of Dawlish just 500 meters away from the beach and are fortunate enough to have an enviable amount of outside space.

This role is for 8 hours per week, term time only until 31 August 2027.

We are looking for a warm and caring individual to support our wrap around care facility at our school. The purpose of the job is to:

  1. Safeguard children during the afterschool period
  2. Prepare and assist with activities for the children on site
  3. Supervise any relevant meals/snacks requires

The successful candidate will:

  1. Be able to build a strong and appropriate rapport with children
  2. Demonstrate the aptitude to work as a part of a successful team
  3. Have effective communication skills
  4. Be able to support children in their play, while maintaining the children's safety and following the school's behaviour guidelines
  5. Be able to demonstrate good hygiene practices and follow the school health and safety policies

This role can be combined with our advertised role of Mealtime Assistant - please indicate on your application if you would like to be considered for both roles (you do not need to apply for both roles separately).

  • Experience in managing pastoral needs of all pupils and successfully applying the school behaviour policy essential

  • Experience of working effectively as part of a team essential
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues essential
  • Current first aid certificate
