Job summary

St Peter's Church of England Academy is seeking a Wrap Around Care Assistant to support the day-to-day operations of the after school club. You will help provide high standards of care and play opportunities for children, ensuring a safe, inclusive environment.

You will assist with planning and delivering activities to support children's social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development, while communicating with parents as required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people.
• Ability to facilitate activities to engage pupils and support development.
• Ability to use own initiative and take appropriate action.
• Effective communication with adults and children.
• Ability to handle behaviour in line with school policies.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, secure and stimulating play environment and assist with development opportunities through play.
• Assist with planning, preparing and delivering activities to meet children’s developmental needs.
• Ensure wrap around care offers an inclusive environment meeting diverse needs.
• Communicate effectively with parents and report information as required.
• Set up and clear away equipment/activities before and after sessions.

Job description

The Role:

The Wrap Around Care Assistant will assist in the day-to-day organisation of the Wrap Around Care provision, providing high standards of care and play opportunities for children at St Peter's Academy.

Key Tasks:

• Maintain a safe, secure and stimulating play environment, and to assist with developing opportunities which encourage children’s social, physical, intellectual, creative and emotional development through play.
• Assist with the planning, preparing and delivery of activities, which meet children’s individual developmental needs.
• Ensure that wrap around care offers a high quality, inclusive environment which meets the needs of all children, regardless of social, culture, religion or beliefs.
• To communicate effectively with parents on a regular basis and report any information from parents as required
• Help set up and clear away all equipment/activities before and after all after school club sessions.

About You:

You will need experience in:

• Working with children or young people
• Facilitating activities to engage pupils and support development
• Ability to use your own initiative and take action accordingly
• Effective communication with adults and children
• Ability to take a firm but fair approach to handling behaviour issues in line with the school’s policies
• Ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues
