Job summary

Orion Electrotech in Castle Donington is seeking a skilled Workshop Technician to join our busy workshop team. You will carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on specialist vehicles, working independently and with colleagues to meet the highest standards.

Qualifications

  • Qualified mechanic or time-served technician with relevant workshop experience.
  • Experience with special purpose vehicles (plant, cranes, forklifts).
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is advantageous.
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to quality.
  • Understanding of diesel and electric engines.
  • Valid driving licence (clean).
  • HGV / forklift / mobile plant backgrounds encouraged; transferable skills welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out service, maintenance, and repairs to high standards.
  • Diagnose faults and provide cost-effective solutions.
  • Complete paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Maintain a clean, organised workshop area.
  • Occasional on-site visits as required.

About the Role

As a Workshop Technician, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality servicing, maintenance, and repairs within a busy workshop environment. Working both independently and alongside other technicians, you will help ensure customer satisfaction and uphold our reputation for excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out a wide range of service and repair work efficiently and to the highest standards
  • Diagnose faults and provide practical, cost‑effective technical solutions
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and on time
  • Maintain a clean, organised working area to support a professional workshop image
  • Attend occasional on‑site jobs as required
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Qualified mechanic or time‑served technician
  • Experience working with special purpose vehicles (e.g., plant equipment, cranes, forklifts)
  • Knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics is advantageous
  • Strong customer focus and commitment to quality
  • Understanding of diesel and electric engines
  • A reasonably clean driving licence
